  1. Sieve flour into a bowl and add the salt.
  2. Add the coconut, onion, green chillies and mix well.
  3. Gradually begin adding the water and add sufficient water to form a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  4. Knead dough till it is smooth and leaves the sides of the bowl clean.
  5. Apply a little oil over the outside of the dough & on your palms and form 8 balls from it.
  6. Place on a lightly greased plate and flatten each ball with your palm into a roti about 1/4 inch thick. If the roti sticks to your palm, just dab a few drops oil on your hand.
  7. Cook over a moderate heat on a lightly greased griddle, flipping often, till golden brown spots begin to form. Don't overcook or the roti will get hard and crispy.
  8. Serve hot..
