"These oatmeal cookies are suprisingly filling. With Whole wheat flour and plenty of oats, they are rich in fibre.This dough also makes a good topping for apple crisp and other fruit crisps. I have been asked to jot down this recipe countless times for family and friends. Delicious!"

  1. Boil water and melt butter to use later.
  2. Measure oats, whole wheat flour, sugar, melted margarine, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon into medium-large bowl. Mix together well.
  3. Add baking soda to boiling water and then add to oatmeal mixture. Add raisins if desired. Mix together until you have a nice, workable dough.
  4. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet, two inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees Farenheit, for 8-10 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
