"Make the dressing to this pretty spring salad one day in advance & store the dressing in a jar in the refrigerator until serving. This pretty salad will look like it has a raspberry dressing on it because of the red onion and poppy seeds."

  1. Combine the sugar, dry mustard, salt, vinegar, chopped onion and oil in a blender, blend for 1 minute.
  2. Add poppy seeds and blend just a few seconds. (makes 4 cups)
  3. Pour into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Store in a jar in refrigerator.
  4. Make the dressing one day in advance, if possible.
  5. To Serve:
  6. Start by using about ½ of this dressing for 1 large group salad.
  7. Toss romaine & red leaf lettuce, sliced red onions and slivered almonds.
  8. Add dressing just before serving and toss.
