"Ever eat Candy Apples rolled in nuts? Yum! Here is my version of a traditional apple pie with a candy apple twist. My father-in-law calls it "Penny Pie""

  1. In large bowl, toss apples & lime juice.
  2. Combine dry ingredients separately then add to the apples & toss.
  3. Place bottom crust in 9" pie plate.
  4. Fill w/ apple mixture and dot w/ butter.
  5. Cover w/ top crust
  6. Flute edges high then cut steam vents.
  7. Bake @ 400 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until golden brown & apples are tender.
  8. Remove pie from oven then pour topping (see prep below) over top crust and return to oven for 3-4 minutes.. topping will be bubbly.
  9. TOPPING PREP: In small pan melt butter, stir in sugar and cream. Bring to a boil stirring constantly; remove from heat and add pecans. Process takes about 12 minutes if your ingredients are prepped.
