"These are yummy. Just be sure to alert your guests. My mother-in-law kept spitting the almonds out & I asked "why do you keep spitting those out? Don't you like almonds?" to which she replied "I thought they were pits". Duh."

  1. Cover cookie sheet in tin foil. Preheat oven to 425.
  2. Melt the butter and add almonds. Remove from heat and add five spice powder. Stir, coating almonds with butter and spice powder mixture.
  3. Stuff an almond into each date. Wrap each date with bacon. Secure with toothpick.
  4. Dip each bacon wrapped date into the brown sugar, coating both sides.
  5. Bake for 6 minutes, flip and bake for another 6 to 8 minutes until bacon is crisp. To keep the dates from sitting in the bacon grease, I put a spoon under the cookie sheet at one corner while it's in the oven so that the grease pools to the opposite corner.
