"A recipe passed down from my Polish great grandmother...to my grandmother...to my mom...and finally to me! Serve this over mashed potatoes with sauteed onions and a little sour cream mixed in for an authentic Polish meal!!! Mmmmm...delicious!"

  1. Quarter salt pork. Place in large pot over medium heat with chopped onions. Saute until clear. Add pork ribs. Place cover on pan let saute for 3-5 minutes. Remove salt pork and discard. Rinse and drain sauerkraut. Reserve some juice. Add sauerkraut, water, and beef broth to pork and onion mixture. Simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes. Add enough sauerkraut juice, sugar and flour. Simmer 30 minutes more.
  2. Serve soup in a bowl over mashed potatoes with sauteed onions and buttered rye bread for an authentic Polish meal!
