  1. Heat oil and mix in onion, sofrito, sazon, ham flavoring, and salt for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add rice, gandules, olives, and tomato sauce. Cook over low heat for 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in 4 cups water.
  4. Raise heat to medium high until most of the water is absorbed.
  5. Turn rice over.
  6. Cover and put heat to low for 15 minutes.
  7. Turn rice over again.
  8. Recover and cook for an additional 15 minutes or until rice is tender.
