Grandma's Apple Crisp

Grandma's Apple Crisp

Darwin 1

"This recipe is from Grandma Ethel, and ALWAYS evokes childhood memories of fall, harvesting corn and carving pumpkins. I hope your family enjoys this as much as mine. Unlike many crisp/cobbler recipes, this one does not contain oatmeal, just a family preference."

  1. Mix "filling" ingredients together (less butter/margarine) and sift over apples, mix well.
  2. Pour coated apples into an 8 x 11 baking dish.
  3. Break or cut the 1-1/2 T butter into pieces and place onto apples in the baking dish.
  4. Mix all topping ingredients together, until a coarse crumb texture is achieved.
  5. Sprinkle the topping mix evenly onto the apples, it looks best when not patted down, but left somewhat rough.
  6. Bake @ 350* for around 60 minutes, remove from oven when the edges are bubbly, and the top is golden brown.
