  1. In a large stock pot, brown sausage over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions, continuing to cook over medium heat until they begin to caramelize.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 20 minutes or until carrots and cabbage are tender.
