Whole Wheat Cinnamon Raisin Bagels

Joanna 0

"These are yummy whole wheat bagels! I love raisins so I add a lot. However, you can adjust to 1 cup if you choose. Make these into whatever flavor you desire by omitting the cinnamon and raisins. Can make blueberry, onion, plain...the options are endless! Have fun!!!!"

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add molasses, honey, and cinnamon to yeast and gently stir.
  3. Now add salt, flour, and raisins to mixture and mix well (will be kind of crumbly). Knead for 10 minutes till dough is smooth. Cover with a towel and rest for 20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, grease baking sheets and start heating about a gallon of water to boiling (not a hard boil).
  5. Pinch off about a 2" ball from dough and roll dough into a "snake". Wrap around your four fingers and gently pinch ends together to make a bagel shape. Should make around 25-45 depending on how big your ball of dough ends up being.
  6. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  7. Place bagels in boiling water (should float after about 20 seconds) and cook for 2 minutes on each side. Take out of water and put on baking sheets. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
