  1. In a large bowl cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, baking powder, salt, and anise extract. Mix on med. speed until well incorporated. Add 4 cups of flour. Mix on low speed until dough forms.
  2. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.
  3. Shape 1 heaping tsp. of dough into a 1 1/2 inch oval.
  4. Repeat with remaining dough, placing cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  5. Bake 10 min. or until cookies are lightly browned.
  6. Remove cookies to wire racks. Cool.
  7. Store in a tightly cover container.
