  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. 2. Bring pot of salted water to a boil; add squash; cook until tender but firm. Drain and transfer to a large bowl.
  3. 3. Add butter, mayo, eggs, and sugar. Mix together. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. 4. Sprinkle 1/2 cracker crumbs on bottom of 6 qt casserole dish. Mix squash with cheese and remaining cracker crumbs and pour on top of crumbs in bottom of casserole dish.
  5. Bake 25 minutes; top with onion rings and bake a few more minutes.
