  1. Cook pasta according to package directions, but not done- it should still have signifant bite. Drain and rinse to prevent over cooking. Reserve 3 cups of the cooking water.
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef.
  3. Add chopped onion and banana pepper to pan and reduce heat to medium. Cook until onions become translucent.
  4. Stir in pesto, Italian herbs, black and red pepper, and tomato paste. Mix well. (Mix will be thick)
  5. Carefully add 3 cups reserved pasta water and stir well to mix. Add cooled pasta, stir gently, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10 minutes until sauce is thickened and pasta is done.
  6. Stir in sour cream, simmer an additional 5 minutes, until heated through.
  7. Serve immediately.
