  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Sift together both flours, salt, baking soda, and baking powder until well-combined.
  3. Add enough buttermilk to make a soft dough, but firm enough to hold its shape.
  4. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 2-3 minutes until dough is smooth and velvety. It will seem very crumbly for awhile until everything gets incorporated.
  5. Form into a round loaf and place on a greased 8-9 inch cake pan, or cookie sheet. Cut a cross on the top of the loaf with a very sharp, floured knife. The cross is a characteristic of soda bread.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until browned and sounds hallow when thumped on with your knuckles.
  7. Move to a cooling rack after baking, and enjoy!
