  1. In a large bowl, beat egg yolks until thick and pale yellow. Gradually add sugar to yolks. With a wire whisk, beat in the milk and 1 quart of heavy cream. Add Disarrono while stirring constantly. Sprinkle ground nutmeg on top.
  2. Pour in a punch bowl, and refrigerate eggnog until it's really cold.
  3. For the optional meringue topping, beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into eggnog. Then, whip remaining 1/2 quart heavy cream until stiff, and fold into the eggnog as well. Sprinkle the ground nutmeg on top of the meringue.
