  1. Cook bacon and crumble, then set aside
  2. Steam asparagus for 5 minutes, then set aside
  3. Trim crusts from bread.
  4. Grease 13x9 pan then layer 1/2 of bread slices in bottom of pan, filling in spaces with slices cut to fit (6-8 slices)
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup cheddar on bread followed by onion, asparagus, bell pepper, then bacon.
  6. Layer remaining bread slices to cover (6-8 slices)
  7. In a bowl beat eggs, then add the milk, mustard, salt and pepper. Pour over bread layers
  8. Refrigerate overnight
  9. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes
  10. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining cheese over top. Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
