  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 2 9" pans
  2. Sift dry ingredients, set aside
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  4. Add eggs one at a time; mixing well after each egg
  5. Add vanilla extract; mix well
  6. Add 1/3 dry mixture; mix well. Add 1/3 milk; mix well. Continue this process until all ingredients are mixed together.
  7. Pour 1/2 of the mixture into each pan.
  8. Bake for 35- 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans.
  10. Cool completely before decorating.
