  1. Wash asparagus and cut the bottoms off (about 1 inch and throw away)
  2. In a medium skillet melt butter and add shallots. Simmer shallots in butter for about 30 seconds and add asparagus, bacon bits, salt and pepper. Adjust heat to low and cover for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Serve immediately
