  1. Use a light flavored brandy (peach or apricot work well). Expensive brandy doesn't really improve the final product so don't waste the money.
  2. Dissolve sugar in hot water. Add coffee and let cool to tepid.
  3. Add brandy and vanilla bean.
  4. Let sit at least three months in a cool, dark place. A kitchen cabinet with a solid door is fine.
  5. Enjoy.
