Donna's Kickin' Cranberry Sauce

YankeeHillbilly 0

"Quick, Simple and versatile. Serve chilled, warm, as a side dish for holiday meals or as a topping (fantastic on brie en croute-a New years favorite!) This is an easy recipe to play with- add pinapple or pears for a more chutney like sauce! Have fun!"

Directions

  • Ready In

  1. Drain syrup from mandarin oranges into sauce pan.
  2. Add Cranberries
  3. Add water just until cranberries are covered and float.
  4. bring to a boil and let simmer until cranberries burst.
  5. When cranberries begin to burst, add sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Add Mandarin Oranges
  7. Simmer for 2 or 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  8. Mixture will thicken as it simmers, however I like the sauce to be thicker without over cooking berries. To do that:
  9. in a separate bowl mix baking powder and TBS of water, stirring until smooth
  10. Add slowly into simmering sauce and stir vigorously.
  11. Remove from heat.
  12. Serve chilled, warm, as a topping or a stand alone side!
  13. This is an easy recipe to play with- add pinapple or pears for a more chutney like sauce! Have fun!
