"One of my favorite meals that my mom used to make. Comfort food at it's best! Cooked for the amount of time listed, you can cut it with a fork, it is so tender. The sauce is great poured over mash potatoes. The recipe calls for one onion but I use 3 as I love onions."

  1. Heat oil in large skillet.
  2. Cut onions into rings and saute until translucent and tender.
  3. While onions cook, cut the steak into 4 pieces.
  4. Pound each piece with a meat tenderizing mallot.
  5. Mix flour, salt & pepper together.
  6. Drench each piece completly with flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  7. Remove onions from skillet and set aside.
  8. Place steak in skillet, cooking until lightly browned on both sides.
  9. Place onions on top of the steak.
  10. Pour tomato sauce over all.
  11. Add the one cup water and cover with lid.
  12. Cook for 1 1/2 - 2 hours using low heat, stirring occasionally.
  13. Add peas the last 20 minutes of cooking.
