Heat skillet over medium heat. Fry bacon until crisp, remove and crumble. Saute onion and garlic until limp. Add pepper, cook until tender. Drain tomatoes, reserve juice, pour tomatoes into skillet. Season with thyme, salt and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes over medium heat. Add okra, and pour enough of the reserved juice from tomatoes to cover. Cook, covered for 15 minutes or until okra is tender.
