  1. Follow directions on box of cake mix.
  2. Add the zest and juice of the lemon and stir.
  3. Bake the cake in 3 layers according to package directions.
  4. Let cake cool completely on wire racks.
  5. In the meantime, beat the whipping cream until soft peaks form.
  6. Add vanilla and powdered sugar and beat until stiff.
  7. Put one layer of cake on cake plate.
  8. Top with 1/3 of cream and then 1 cup of strawberries.
  9. Do not put cream on the sides, but let the cream and strawberries "ooze" out just a little.
  10. Add another layer of cake.
  11. Top with 1/3 of cream and last cup of strawberries.
  12. Add last layer of cake.
  13. Spread remaining cream on top.
  14. Garnish with the 2 whole strawberries in the center.
  15. Chill until ready to serve.
