"This recipe came to my family in the 50's, and makes the absolute best chipped ham BBQ sandwiches ever! It takes more time than just cracking open a bottle of sauce, but the taste is most definitely worth it."

  1. In a large dutch oven, bring the vinegar, brown sugar, Heinz 57 sauce and Worchestershire sauce to a simmer, blend well. Taste at this point; if too sour, add brown sugar to taste. If too sweet, add vinegar to taste.
  2. Add the Heinz Chili sauce, water and spices, bring mixture to a boil. Allow to boil for 30 minutes, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium low and let simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Add meat in small batches until it is all incorporated and covered with sauce. Let meat simmer for 30 minutes, stirring ocassionally.
  4. You can put the mixture into a crockpot set on low for parties. Serve with buns.
