  1. Wash lentils,
  2. cook with 3c cold waer until tender about 20 minutes.
  3. soak rice in hot water with 1/2 tsp. salt for 15 min.
  4. Drain rice and add to lentils, boil for 3 minutes and simmer until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  5. fry onions until brown in oil, while the lentils are cooking.
  6. Pour the oil from the fried onions over the lentil mixture and mix gently.
  7. serve Mijaddara on a platter topped with the onions.
  8. Delicious served with yogurt.
  9. Excellent dish for fasting during Ramadan.
