  1. In a coffee grinder or spice grinder, dry grind Cumin seeds, black pepper and red chillis
  2. Crush the garlic cloves.
  3. When the pan on the stove is warm, add the oil and mustard seeds. As the mustard seeds splutter add curry leaves and water.
  4. Add diced Tomatoes, spice mixture, salt, tumeric powder, garlic and tomatoes.
  5. Bring to a boil and you will notice the tomatoes are softer. Add Tamarind paste (you can vary the quantity of tamarind paste according to your taste. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes.
  6. Garnish with Coriander leaves. You can drink it like soup or eat with rice.
  7. Alternately you can combine water, tomatoes, spice mixture, tumeric powder, salt and garlic in a bowl and add to spluttering mustard and curry leaves.
