  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Mix wet ingredients separately. Make a well in center of dry ingredients and add wet mixture. Combine thoroughly, but do not overmix.
  2. Pour into a round baking dish. Tap out air bubbles. Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 400 or till golden brown.
  3. Variation: If buttermilk is not available, use 1/3 cup sour cream and 1 cup of milk in its place.
