  1. Dissolve yeast in 2/3 cups warm water, add salt, sugar, 1 cup flour, shortening. Beat until smooth, mix in rest of flour. Knead until smooth. Place in large bowl, cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in size.
  2. Cut dough into 28 pieces, roll each into 8" sticks. Place 1" apart on greased baking sheet. Beat egg, brush onto sticks and sprinkle with seeds. Bake in 350 degree oven until golden brown. Extras can be frozen and served at a later date.
  3. Butter sauce (OPTIONAL) Brush bread sticks with butter sauce as soon as they leave the oven.
  4. 1/2 cup melted butter
  5. 1 tsp. garlic powder
  6. 1/8 tsp. onion powder
  7. 1/8 tsp. dried parsley
  8. Add all ing. and stir till butter is melted, brush onto breadsticks and serve immediately.
