Original recipe yields 16 servings

  1. Combine sugars, milk, butter and salt in a heavy saucepan. Cook until candy thermometer reaches 238 F or soft ball stage.
  2. Add liqueur (optional) and whisk in sifted icing sugar until wll combined.
  3. Stir in (optional) chopped nuts.
  4. Pour into an 8x8 inch pan that has been lined with parchment paper that is larger than the pan so that the sides hang out (for easier removal).
  5. Allow to cool at room temperature (do not refridgerate). Once set, cut into 1" or 2" squares and wrap individually in parchment paper.
