  1. Sift dry ingredients, set aside.
  2. Beat butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla and eggs and beat well.
  4. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating smooth after each addition.
  5. Spread half of batter into greased and floured pan.
  6. Spoon preserves on top.
  7. Cover with remaining batter.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
  9. Combine coconut, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter.
  10. Sprinkle over cake.
  11. Broil until golden brown.
