Original recipe yields 24 servings

  1. Cream together shortening and sugar.
  2. Add molasses and egg, mix.
  3. Sift together flour, soda, spices and salt add to first mixture and mix well.
  4. Cover and chill at least 1 hour in fridge (may be stored overnight).
  5. Form 1 inch balls
  6. and roll in granulated sugar.
  7. Place on greased cookie sheet
  8. 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake 375 for 8 to 10 min.
  10. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERCOOK (which makes cookies hard.)
  11. Immediatly move to cooling rack and enjoy!
