  1. Melt sugar in a heavy skillet stirring constantly until melted.
  2. Mix coconut and salt except the color.
  3. Stir constantly for about 1 minute. Then add color.
  4. Pour the mixture in a waxed paper 12 X 9 inch pan.
  5. Layer the mixture well with a spatula or butcher knife.
  6. Cut into 1 ½ to 2 inches squares or diamonds while still hot.
  7. Cool until Kashatas are set.
  8. Serve with tea or as snack
