"Also known as Gomma cookies, these very simple cookies are quite wonderfull. They are very easy to make and look wonderfull. Havent met any one yet that doesnt like them. I personally also like to add food coloring, other extracts(almond, lemon, strawberry, etc) or substitute the cornstarch for custardpowder. But this is the original one."

  1. Preheat oven to 180 Celsius.
  2. Mix butter and sugar about 2-3 minutes or until sugar is mainly dissolved.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and the egg and mix for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add cornstartch in portions and mix well between additions. Depending on the brand, you may need a bit more or less. There will be enough cornstarch in the batter when you can roll it into balls without the batter sticking to your hands.
  5. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on parchment paper or a lightly greased baking sheet. Press down slightly with vingers or a fork. You can also use a pipingbag for prettier cookies.
  6. Sprinkle with colored sprinkles.
  7. Bake for 12-17 minutes. They are NOT supposed to brown. If they do, take them out and shorten cookingtime.
  8. Allow to cool completely.
