  1. You can use your favorite bread but I have found a soft french roll, the ones that come in a plastic bag about two feet long, work the best. Starting with a soft roll is the key otherwise the bread will come out too hard. Slice rounds off the roll at a 45 degree angle to give more surface for the topping and set aside. Mix together the mayo,cheese,pepper,and onion. Spread liberally over rounds. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for @ 10 minutes and finish off under the broiler to just lightly brown the tops. Serve on a platter and yummm.
