"This is a recipe I made when I wanted a sweet dessert but didn't have anything around. It's a boiled dumpling with a thick, sweet apple sauce. It's also vegan!"

  1. In a large saucepan, bring apple juice, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and brown sugar to boil.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl combine baking mix, cinnamon, allspice, and white sugar; mix thouroughly. Add water and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined. Should form a soft dough.
  3. Drop dough 1 tablesppon at a time into boiling juice, allowing about 5 seconds between adding each one.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
  5. Every few minutes, spoon some of the sauce over the dumplings to keep them from drying out and to get all of the flavor in. Serve with the apple sauce on top with or without vanilla ice cream.
