  1. Heat the oven to 220c.
  2. Rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips.
  3. Add the sugar, pumpkin and egg, then the milk if you need it.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured board and knead untill smooth.
  5. Roll out 2cm thick.
  6. Using a knife, cut into 12 scones.
  7. Place on a tray, and brush the tops with milk.
  8. Place in the top half of your oven and bake at 220c for 10 to 15 minutes until brown.
  9. Allow them to cool a little, then serve with butter.
