Add oil a large pot over medim heat. Add garlic and onions and saute until soft, about two minutes. Add beef and pork and cook until browned. Remove excess grease. Return the pot to the stove and add the beef broth and tomatoes with their juice, crushing each by hand. Add spices, beans, raisins and salt. Bring mixture to a boil, and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook covered for 30 minutes. Add olives and almonds and cook an additional 30 minutes.
