  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cinnamon, clove, and sugar on a plate, mix and set aside.
  2. Slice the apple to desired thickness then spread on a baking sheet. Brush slices with butter and press each slice into the sugar mixture and set back onto baking sheet.
  3. Bake apple slices for 5 minutes at 350, then broil for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and place on plate to cool for 2 minutes with any "sauce" that comes off the sheet. (When the apples bake they will release their juice which when mixed with the sugar will create a kind of carmelization)Dust lightly with sugar again.
  4. Place on pie and serve, or eat!
