"A friend of mine invented these delicious sugar cookies, and I just had to have the recipe. I make them all the time, because my husband can't get enough of them. They are so soft, and they melt in your mouth. I love them."
Cream butter and sugar in electric mixer. Add egg, vanilla, baking powder and flour. sprinkle flour on a countertop, and roll out the dough. Use a round cookie cutter, and put cookies on cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 6 minutes. ( the cookies might not look like they are done, but they will be. Do not overbake)
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until fluffy. Add powdered sugar. Beat on high speed for 10 minutes. Add food coloring for color. Make sure the cookies are cooled before applying the icing.
