Deliciously Divine Cheesecake Swirl Brownies

Extra Foamy 1

"These moist and chewy brownies have cheesecake swirled in. Nobody can resist them, and as the name says, they're nothing but divine. Whenever I bring these anywhere they disappear in minutes. I found the recipe in the newspaper one day, and added my own icing for extra decadence."

  1. Brownies:
  2. 1)Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, or 180 degrees C, and grease a 9x13 inch cake pan.
  3. 2)Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt, and set aside.
  4. 3)Over a double boiler or in the microwave, melt the chocolate with half of the butter and half of the vanilla, and set aside to allow it to cool.
  5. 4)Cream together the remaining half of the butter with the cream cheese and 1/2 cup of the sugar until smooth, using an electric mixer. Blend in 2 of the eggs, 2 tablespoons of the flour mixture, and the remaining vanilla. Set aside.
  6. 5)In another bowl using an electric mixer, beat the remaining four eggs with the remaining 1 1/2 cups of sugar until very light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Fold in the chocolate mixture, followed by the dry ingredients, and finally the chopped nuts.
  7. 6)Pour this mixture into the prepared pan and spread it to the corners. Dollop the cream cheese mixture on top, trying to get a relatively even distribution, though accuracy isn't really necessary.
  8. 7)Using a butter knife or something similar, lightly swirl the two batters together, creating a marbled effect.
  9. 8)Bake the brownies for 40-45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out nearly clean. Allow them to cool.
  10. Icing:
  11. 1)Melt the butter or margarine in the microwave.
  12. 2)Stir in the cocoa and vanilla.
  13. 3)Stir in the icing sugar and milk until a smooth, spreadable consistency is achieved. Spread over cooled brownies.
