Sara's Cookies

"One taste of these cookies takes me back to childhood! It's a mystery who Sara is, but my grandmother always used this recipe for roll out sugar cookies at Christmastime when i was a child. It is easy to make, easy to work with, not overly sweet, and delicious when decorated with lots and lots of sprinkles! I made them this year with my four-year-old daughter to continue the Christmas tradition."

  1. Cream sugar shortening and eggs together on medium speed. Mix in vanilla and milk. In separate bowl, thoroughly mix flour, pinch of salt and baking soda. Slowly mix dry ingredients into mixer bowl. Cover and refrigerate at least two hours, better if refrigerated overnight. When ready to bake, find a four-year-old, flour surface well, roll out and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes. Use LOTS of sprinkles (that's the only way a four-year-old can do it). Cookies can also be baked plain and frosted when cool.
