Cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger; blend. Fold in chips. Chill for several hours. Form into 1 in. balls. roll in powdered sugar. Bake at 375 degrees on ungreased baking sheets for 8-10min.
