  1. Preheat the oven to 425 F.
  2. Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, and salt in a medium sized bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the buttermilk, oil, vanilla, and eggs.
  4. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture; mix thoroughly.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 8x8x2-inch baking dish.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes.
  7. While cornbread bakes, blend the butrter, honey, cinnamon and ginger.
  8. Baste the top of the bread with the butter mixture during the final 5 minutes of baking.
