Vanilla Bread Pudding

"My Dad loves the bread pudding at our local buffet restaurant. Since he can't get out much anymore, I came up with this recipe so that he could continue to enjoy it. Dad say's this is even better than the restaurants. I hope you enjoy it."

  1. Place bread cubes in a greased, 2qt casserole dish. In a small mixing bowl, combine beaten eggs, sugar, salt, spices, vanilla, butter and milk. Pour over bread. Make sure bread is well soaked. Stir in raisins, if desired, making sure they are under the bread and not floating on top.
  2. Bake 15 minutes at 375*F, reduce heat and bake an additional 10 minutes at 350*F.
  3. TOPPING:
  4. Prepare vanilla pudding according to package directions. When bread pudding is done, make a few slits in it with a knife and pour the topping over the bread pudding, letting it soak down into the hot bread. Serve warm.
