Spread the softenend cream cheese in the bottom of a glass pyrex dish (I like about a 9x9) with a spatula. Layer on onion, olives, chives, salsa, then at last the shredded cheese. Top with more chives, onions and olives.
For variation, any of these ingredients can be nixed, if you don't like them. I normally don't use refried beans and sour cream, but I've tried them lately, and they are good with this. Also, they can be layered in any order, whatever is easiest.
