"A hearty soup that my family enjoys, esspecially on winter evenings. To speed the cooking process, you can buy quick barley. Serve with a fresh loaf of bread and can top it off with shredded chedder cheese, if desired."

  1. 1) In large pot, brown beef, onion, celery and carrots until meat is cooked through and veggies are tender. Drain fat and add salt and pepper to taste.
  2. 2) Add water, tomato soup, barley, beef boullion cubes and chili powder and stir until mixed.
  3. 3) Cover and simmer over med-high heat for 35-45 minutes or until barley is tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. Note: Using quick barley will cut cooking time to apprx 20-25 minutes.
