  1. Find a bag of split peas. Follow the directions on the bag. In the beginning I cook the onions in small amount of veg. oil. Cut ham into small peices (cubes) and add to onion in large allspice, water, and split peas. (wash peas before adding to pot) Cook this until it is creamy, stir ocassionally, cover it, watch it and cook until it is the consistancy of a nice thick soup. Add pepper and salt to taste, Serve with crutons
