  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease & flour 3 8x1 -1/2 -inch cake pans , set aside .
  2. Combine 3 Tablespoons butter and pecans , spread evenly on baking sheet and toast until deep golden brown, stirring several times . 10~15 minutes . let cool . Keep oven at 350 degrees.
  3. Cream 2/3 cup butter , gradually add sugar & beat until light & fluffy. Add vanilla . Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition . Sift dry ingredients & add alternately with Milk , beating well after each addition . Flod in 1 cup toasted pecans { save any remainder for frosting }.
  4. Divide batter among pans and bake until toothpick inserted comes out clean .
  5. about 30~35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes on rack . Gently remove from pans & cool completly before frosting . Store in refrigator after frosting .
  6. Butter -Pecan Cream Cheese Forsting:
  7. Cream softing cream cheese & butter . Add sugar & vanilla and beat until smooth . Stir in toasted pecans .
  8. Spread over cake !
