  1. Sift together 3 1/2 cups flour and salt; set aside.
  2. Combine orange slices,dates, nuts and coconut.
  3. Add to flour mixture and add remaining flour to mixture and set aside.
  4. Cream together butter, sugar and eggs, one at a time.
  5. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture.
  6. Combine flour and creamed mixture together and pour into greased tube pan.
  7. Bake for 1 3/4 hours at 300 degrees.
  8. Glaze for Cake
  9. Dissolve 2 cups confectioners sugar in 1 cup orange juice.
  10. Pour over cake as soon as it is removed from oven.
  11. Refrigerate overnight.
