Chilean Wine Regions: Aconcagua Valley

A wine region so hot, it's Chile!

Take a look at some of Chile's most exciting winemaking regions and get recipes to pair with the wines that are being made there.

Aconcagua Valley

Long and typically cloudless summer days in the Aconcagua Valley can flirt with perfection. High above the valley, as a backdrop, looms the preposterously tall Mount Aconcagua, rising to a cruising altitude of 22,000 feet, whose summer snowmelt provides more than enough irrigation for the valley's bone-dry vineyards. Cabernet Sauvignon is the big star here, luxuriating in the valley's long sunny days. Merlot is the next most planted variety, but Syrah is closing in.
